VET ASSISTANT TRAINING
Together, these programs are designed to help aspiring veterinary assistants build the practical knowledge, confidence, safety awareness, and foundational clinical skills needed to succeed in veterinary medicine. Through self-paced learning and completion of the checklist, participants with receive a Veterinary Assistant Certificate of Completion having developed a stronger understanding of patient care, hospital operations, communication, diagnostics, safety, and team support within the veterinary setting.
PROGRAM LIST
Clinical Skills for Veterinary Assistants
This program covers basic overview of working in a veterinary hospital. Participant will explore basics professional standards, medical terminology, and practice management, hands-on skills in animal restraint, exam room procedures, and pharmacology. The other courses go more in depth for each topic.​
Anatomy and Physiology for Veterinary Assistants
Develop a practical understanding of animal body systems and how they function. This course helps veterinary assistants better understand disease processes, patient care, handling techniques, and the “why” behind daily veterinary procedures.​
Essentials of Veterinary Pharmacology
Learn the basics of veterinary medications, including common drug classes, administration methods, safety, and dosage awareness. This program helps assistants safely support treatment plans and improve confidence when handling medications in the hospital setting.
Preventative Care Basics for Veterinary Assistants
This program covers wellness exams, vaccine protocols, parasite prevention, nutrition basics, client education, and routine preventative care recommendations commonly used in veterinary practice. Participants will build confidence in supporting wellness visits, promote proactive patient care and long-term health outcomes.
Laboratory Procedures for Veterinary Assistants
Learn the basics of veterinary diagnostic testing and laboratory workflow, including sample collection, handling, preparation, and common in-house laboratory procedures. This course helps assistants better support diagnostic efficiency and patient care.
Veterinary Controlled Substance Management
Understand the fundamentals of DEA compliance, controlled substance handling, documentation, storage, and inventory management within veterinary practice. This program helps prepare assistants to support safe, compliant hospital operations.
Veterinary Terminology for Veterinary Assistants
Build a strong foundation in the language of veterinary medicine. This program teaches common medical terminology, abbreviations, anatomy terms, and communication used in everyday practice to help assistants confidently understand medical records, doctor instructions, and client discussions.
