About

Dr. Angela “Angie” Henninger is a Veterinarian, multi-location practice owner, entrepreneur, and founder of DVM Ascent. With over a decade of leadership experience in private practice, she has built and scaled veterinary hospitals grounded in operational excellence, financial discipline, and intentional culture.

Angela believes mentorship should not be left to chance. Early in her career, she recognized that clinical competence alone does not prepare veterinarians for the realities of leadership, ownership, or long-term sustainability. Through DVM Ascent, she provides structured mentorship, strategic frameworks, and business clarity to help veterinarians grow with confidence — not burnout.

In addition to practicing medicine, Angela owns and operates multiple veterinary hospitals and an innovative community-focused pet business concept. She is currently completing her MBA, deepening her expertise in finance, leadership, and organizational strategy.

Her work focuses on three core pillars:

  • Clinical excellence

  • Leadership development

  • Sustainable practice growth

Angela’s mission is simple:
To elevate veterinary medicine by building stronger leaders, healthier practices, and more confident veterinarians.

My Story

I didn’t start my career thinking I would one day build a mentorship platform for veterinarians.

I started like most of us do — wanting to be a great doctor. I cared deeply about medicine, about doing the right thing for patients, and about showing up for clients. I believed that if I worked hard enough and became clinically excellent, everything else would fall into place.

It didn’t.

What I quickly discovered is that veterinary medicine is about far more than diagnostics and surgery. It’s about leadership. It’s about communication. It’s about financial sustainability. It’s about building teams. It’s about making hard decisions. And no one hands you a manual for that.

As I grew in my career and eventually became a practice owner, I saw the same pattern again and again — talented, compassionate veterinarians navigating complex careers without structured mentorship or business education. Many were overwhelmed. Some were burned out. Most were simply trying to figure it out alone.

I was, too.

Over time, I became obsessed with understanding the systems behind success. I built and scaled multiple veterinary hospitals. I studied leadership frameworks. I leaned into operational design, financial literacy, and culture-building. I went back to school to pursue my MBA so I could deepen my understanding of strategy, finance, and organizational behavior.

And I realized something powerful:

Clinical excellence without leadership structure leads to exhaustion.
Growth without systems leads to chaos.
Talent without mentorship leads to stagnation.

DVM Ascent was born out of that realization.

This platform exists because mentorship should not be left to luck. It should be intentional, structured, and accessible. Whether you are a new graduate building confidence, a practice owner scaling your team, or a leader preparing for your next chapter, you deserve clarity and support.

My approach is grounded in three core beliefs:

Excellence — In medicine, leadership, and personal growth.
Integrity — In how we build practices and treat people.
Sustainability — Because success should not cost you your well-being.

I am still practicing medicine. I am still learning. I am still growing. And I believe the best leaders never stop doing those things.

DVM Ascent is not just a program. It is a commitment — to elevating veterinary medicine by developing stronger leaders, healthier practices, and more confident professionals.

If you are here, you are already invested in becoming better.

And that’s where real growth begins.
